After completing undergraduate Graphics studies at Camberwell College of Art in 1989, Lara successfully established a broad client base working as a freelance illustrator. In 1992 she returned to Camberwell to undertake an MA in Fine Art Printmaking.

"I'd spend a lot of time in the print room during my BA and loved the experimental nature of printmaking. Coming from an Illustration background I was keen to move away from the idea of  'illustrating' a concept and instead  work from the inside out , allowing  ideas to happen very much in the spirit of Paul Klee's 'taking a line for a walk'.

My work has increasingly become more abstract as I focus on developing my visual language and use of colour. It is colour which moves me because it has an emotional quality and a positive resonance. The shapes and textures that I choose combine to give a strong life-affirming message."

Since graduating with Distinction from the MA Printmaking course at Camberwell Collage of Art, Lara has exhibited widely. Her work can be found in the collections of The V&A Museum and UNESCO as well as numerous private collections both in the UK and abroad.
